THE DRUGSTORE OF UNIVERSIDAD AUTONÓMA DE SANTO
DOMINGO, RECINTO SAN FRANCISCO DE MACORÍS
By Suanny Hidalgo
The drugstore At Recinto San Francisco
de Macorís is important for our society. This drugstore calls the attention of the
public in general. The people can find necessary medicine to buy. Also people
who live in other cities come to get medical products.
The first aspect to explain is the good
service of the drugstore at Universidad Autonóma de Santo Domingo, Recinto San
Francisco de Macorís. This drugstore supplies medicine and sanitary imput to
the community. Also these types of drugstores send medicine to hospitals, units
of primary attention of the Health Public Ministry in the Dominican Republic and, to the
members of the subsidized regime of Social Security. The “People’s Drugstore” as the Health Public
Ministry called it, offers cheap medicine to the users, Especially to people
who don’t have money for buying common and other types of medicine.
Beyond that, this drugstore has the
cheapest medicine. The Acetaminophen pill costs 0.20 cents and the most
expensive is the Antitoxin Tetanica injections. The people visit the drugstore
to buy more pills than syrups. In addition, the costumers buy more injection
ampoules of antibiotics than other types of products (cotton, gloves, and
descartables syringes). The sales are kept the same on college vacation.
Stadistics says that 90% of the population comes to this popular drugstore.
The conditions of the drugstore are
good. The floor and the walls are clean. The area is refreshed by a fan and an
air conditioner. Inside the drugstore, there are sections to put medicine. The
sections are divided in alphabetic order, no matter if syrups and pills are
together. In this case, the alphabetic order is the most important. The
sections have to be clean and in good conditions as well. Also, the medicine
has to be cleaned for being sold and for the costumers who are the viewers and
the users of this pharmacy. At the entrance, the drugstore has a glass door. It
permits the public to see the products before they came in the place. The
employees and the costumers feel good with the environment and the drugstore
conditions. The employees have to clean it daily. The employees use this practice to offer a better service to
the public.
In summary, the drugstore at
Universidad Autonóma de Santo Domingo ,
Recinto San Francisco de Macorís requires more types of medicine, especially
those that are escential. The people, who don’t have the economical conditions
to buy expensive medicine, demand it. The population of San Francisco de
Macorís must give more importance to this drugstore since it is a contribution
offered from the state to the students and to the community, particularly to
the people who don’t have enough economical resources. Therefore, the students
have to fight for these types of drugstores continue bringing their service to
the community.
